GrowthRise Mastermind Recap June 30, 2026
Today we held our weekly GrowthRise Mastermind call. Below is the recap post on the topics we covered today.
Topics Covered on the Call
1. AI in Marketing
Challenge: Over-reliance on AI tools risks losing the human element that clients value; AI outputs can be easily detected and feel inauthentic.
Advice:
Build a "company brain" using authentic, human-generated content to train AI, ensuring outputs retain a genuine voice.
Humans should remain as overseers of AI-generated results rather than replacing them entirely.
2. Agency Business Model & Billing
Challenge:
Deciding between one-off project billing vs. recurring retainers; managing contractors vs. employees; building a scalable, sustainable model.
Advice:
Prioritize monthly recurring retainers over one-off projects to enable predictable staffing and scaling.
Use part-time employees on fixed hours rather than juggling multiple gig contractors.
3. What Clients Look for in an Agency
Challenge:
Uncertainty about whether to emphasize technical expertise or strategic positioning.
Advice:
Clients care more about strategy, outcomes, and trust than technical details. Lead with background, experience, and testimonials.
4. Getting First Clients
Challenge:
No testimonials or case studies to attract paying clients.
Advice:
Offer services for free or at minimal cost to a few clients in exchange for testimonials and case studies — this will accelerate growth faster than anything else.
Tools Recommended
Claude
– used for AI-assisted content generation and training the company brain.
Perplexity
– used in building the master markdown file.
Best Advice
Find a couple of clients and deliver results for free or near-free in exchange for testimonials. Getting proof of concept early will do more to grow the business than months of searching for high-paying clients.
