📣 Scaling Meta Ads & CAC Expectations

Challenges: Large budget ($100K/month) couldn't be fully spent; CAC jumped from $150 to $400 upon scaling; founder set an unrealistic $100 target CAC for a $100/month product with no free trial or demo.

Advice: Use a unit economics template to calculate a realistic CAC (likely $300–$600); push back on unrealistic expectations; consider adding a free trial or freemium option to improve funnel conversion.

🎯 Retargeting with Small Audiences

Challenges: Web traffic audiences were too small (below LinkedIn's 300-person minimum) to run retargeting ads.

Advice: Start Meta retargeting immediately even with small lists; stack audiences on LinkedIn until the retargeting pool reaches 300+; separate campaigns once audiences grow to allocate budget accurately.

🧲 Landing Page Optimization & Funnel Strategy

Challenges: Single CTA ("contact sales") on awareness-stage landing pages had very low clicks; most visitors stayed in the hero section only.

Advice: Use separate landing pages for different CTAs rather than multiple CTAs on one page; drive traffic to ungated, high-value content first, then retarget for gated assets, then sales calls.

🤝 Done-for-You Business Development Service

Challenges: Identifying an entry-level "tripwire" offer for a complex BD-as-a-service.

Advice: Provide a free, personalized market opportunity report (built with AI tools like Claude) to demonstrate value and break through sales noise, then upsell a $5K/month retainer.

Best Advice

Give high-value, personalized content to prospects for free rather than charging for it as a tripwire. A well-crafted, AI-assisted market research report delivered at no cost is more likely to land a large contract than asking someone to pay a small fee upfront, because it builds trust and breaks through the noise of generic sales pitches.
